Kids learn how to build the six Support Developmental Assets: Family Support, Positive Family Communication, Other Adult Relationships, Caring Neighborhood, Caring School Climate, and Parent Involvement in Schooling.

Each asset is clearly defined and introduced by a story. Kids learn concrete, realistic ways to build family closeness and strengthen other important relationships in their lives.

About the Adding Assets Series for Kids

Researchers have identified 40 good things that all kids need in their lives. Called Developmental Assets, they include a loving family, a caring neighborhood, self-esteem, and a commitment to learning. Surveys consistently show that the more assets kids have, the more likely they are to do well in life and avoid problems in school and high-risk behaviors like alcohol use, illicit drug use, and violence. Even young children can make choices, learn skills, and practice behaviors that put them on the right path.
