Many Free Spirit books and other learning materials support required and recommended standards, outcomes, and guidelines set forth by national programs, organizations, and initiatives.

Safe and Drug Free Schools

The Kids’ Guide to Working Out Conflicts was designed to help schools fulfill Title IV—21st Century Schools Part A—Safe and Drug-free Schools and Communities, Sections 4115 (E) viii and xiii, which authorize conflict resolution, violence prevention, and education programs.

The Character Education Partnership

To promote respect, compassion, honesty, responsibility, and fairness in kids and teens, the Character Education Partnership, in conjunction with the Center for the Advancement of Ethics and Character, devised guidelines for character education in schools. The curriculum criteria are based on the Eleven Principles of Effective Character Education, as outlined by the Character Education Partnership.
