State Departments of Health have selected to distribute the Germs Are Not for Sharing books in a variety of ways:
Tennessee distributed 14,500 books to state head start and health services coordinators, community health development managers, directors of school health, emergency preparedness staff, and maternal and child health program coordinators as a resource to spread the word about important personal hygiene to stop the spread of influenza, colds, and other diseases.
Maine provided the Germs books to their public health nurses to use as gifts for children with positive TB skin tests during home visits.
Florida used the books as incentives to reinforce the message about not spreading germs and good personal hygiene for those who participated in their Food Safety Workshops.
Ohio distributed the Germs books during follow-up visits to childcare centers that participated in their handwashing training.
