Free Spirit Author Elizabeth Reeve, M.D., Named 2012 Psychiatrist of the Year 06/11/2012

Elizabeth Reeve, M.D., a HealthPartners physician at Regions Hospital has been named the 2012 Psychiatrist of the Year by the Minnesota Psychiatric Society for her dedication to sharing her expertise as a teacher and a mentor.
This award recognizes Dr. Reeve’s clinical excellence as well as her lengthy contributions to training the next generation of psychiatrists. In addition to her work at Regions Hospital, Dr. Reeve is an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School and teaches as part of the Hennepin-Ramsey Psychiatry Training Program.
Dr. Reeve, who specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry, focuses primarily on children and young adults with developmental disabilities. Along those lines, she speaks in the community to educate others in the field of developmental disabilities and helps young adults with autism spectrum disorders transition into college and the work force.
She also recently co-authored a book,The Survival Guide for Kids with Autism Spectrum Disorders (And Their Parents), based on her personal and professional experiences and will be using proceeds from the sale of the book to set up a scholarship fund for high functioning students with autism who are going to college.
The Minnesota Psychiatric Society has been naming a Psychiatrist of the Year since 2007 as a chance for members to honor someone who consistently goes the extra mile in psychiatric practice, whether that is as a consultant, educator, researcher, practitioner, mentor, or volunteer.
