How to Talk to an Autistic Kid Wins Gold in ForeWord Book of the Year Awards 06/23/2012
We are pleased to announce that How To Talk to an Autistic Kid by Daniel Stefanski is a gold award winner in ForeWord Reviews’ 2011 Book of the Year Awards. The awards were announced at ALA’s Annual Conference in Anaheim, California. Book of the Year Award winners are selected by a panel of librarian and bookseller judges to recognize the best independently published works. ForeWord named 209 Book of the Year Award winners in 54 categories. How to Talk to an Autistic Kid won the top award in the Juvenile Nonfiction category.
How to Talk to an Autistic Kid was written by Daniel Stefanski (an autistic kid) at the age of 14. In the book, he provides personal stories, clear explanations, and supportive advice about how to get along with kids with autism. Autism National Committee called How to Talk to an Autistic Kid “one of the best children’s books on autism.” The book is also the recipient of a Learning Magazine Teachers’ Choice Award for the Family, named to the “Best of the Best 2012” list by the Chicago Public Library, and was a finalist in the Books for a Better Life Awards.
