Production Editor

We seek an experienced full-time Production Editor. This in-house position is responsible for ensuring that designed pages, related copy, and promotional materials meet editorial and production standards. In this position, you will perform proofreading of books, catalogs, and publicity materials. You will also review design and layout of typeset pages, conduct final fact-checks, and schedule and oversee freelance copyeditors, proofreaders, and indexers. The ideal candidate will also be able to index catalogs and copyedit manuscripts. You need to be able to meet strict deadlines in a creative, fast-paced environment. This full-time position is eligible for benefits.

Required Education and Skills
  • B.A. degree in English or related field
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience book proofreading and copyediting
  • Knowledge and use of The Chicago Manual of Style
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro markup tools and general computer software and database experience

Warehouse Assistant

Free Spirit Publishing, an educational and children’s book publisher, seeks a warehouse assistant at our Golden Valley location. We will schedule 40 hours per week M-F between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm. We need a task oriented, team player with a get it done attitude to provide assistance in our warehouse. This position will be constantly on the go doing a variety of tasks to help our operations run smoothly.
 
Job responsibilities include:

  • Picking and staging orders
  • Shipping and receiving merchandise and supplies
  • Assembling our jar product
  • Collating and shrink-wrapping poster and book sets
  • Restocking books
  • Performing light maintenance duties in warehouse
 
Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to accurately count
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. frequently
  • Ability to use electric pallet jack
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Neat and organized worker
