A Growth Mindset Alphabet

Y Is for Yet

A Growth Mindset Alphabet

Mistakes aren’t just mistakes. They’re growth spurts. Developing a growth mindset—a belief that learning is a process that requires dedication and hard work, not just talent—helps kids learn from their mistakes, build resilience, and strive to be a little better every day.

Not your typical alphabet book, Y Is for Yet uses the ABCs as an accessible framework to introduce growth mindset and all its possibilities. From A to Z, or Ability to Zany, kids learn a new vocabulary that expands their view of themselves as learners.

Readers can open to any page and find useful information. Younger children learn new vocabulary, while older kids can increase their knowledge of the brain’s neuroplasticity and the many ways growth mindset can be put into action. A section at the back of the book provides a kid-friendly glossary of terms and activities adults can use to help kids build resilience and foster a growth mindset.

With an uplifting and positive tone, Y Is for Yet empowers kids to persevere and encourages them to view learning as a journey with limitless possibilities.

Wonderful Book and Teaching Tool!

This book is an ideal way to introduce a child to a growth mindset. What’s a growth mindset? This book will explain in simple terms a child can easily understand with beautiful and fun illustrations. As a grandparent, I can’t wait to introduce this book to my grandkids. As a social worker, I’m also grateful to be able to use this book with the children I work with on a daily basis. Many kids in foster care struggle with a poor self-image and low self-esteem due to past trauma. “Y is for Yet” will help children from any background pursue a growth mindset and strengthen their armor against the many challenges that life will bring. The activities provided by the author offers practical ways to implement the growth mindset perspective. I recommend this book not only for parents, but teachers, social work professionals, and counselors.

Timeless tool

This book may be an inspiring source for educators, parents and caregivers. I loved the way author introduces new words to the young reader. Shannon teaches universal values of humanity in a gentle, tender way. This book carries positive energy with valuable information. Most of us seek a source of positive energy, and where do we find it? From books like this. When we have more resources that teach lovingly a better way of learning, we may see a happy shift in our children's minds.

Shannon Anderson has written another positive and interesting book that teaches us, adults and children, that we can do anything if we stay positive and productive. A great book. Illustrations are a wonderful compliment to the book.
